     Ernest E. Culver died on 4 October 1877 in Jackson County, Michigan, at age 3 of diphtheria. Diphtheria is a respiratory disease, very contagious. It is easily transmitted from person to person by coughing and sneezing since the germs live in the mouth, throat, and nose of an infected person. It was recommended that family members who had the disease should be isolated from those who were not sick. At times, health officials would quarantine a house that had this contagious disease.2,3,4
He is buried in the Buck/Mason Cemetery located in Pulaski Township, Jackson County, Michigan.1
