M, b. 28 August 1837, d. 12 February 1889
FatherJohn N. Bricker1,3 b. 16 Oct 1790, d. 16 Jun 1875
Joseph Henry Bricker was born on 28 August 1837 in Columbiana County, Ohio.1,4,2 He was the son of John N. Bricker.1,3 In the 1840 census in Centre Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, Joseph Henry Bricker is assumed to be enumerated with John N. Bricker.5 In the census of 20 September 1850 in Centre Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, Joseph appears in the household of John N. Bricker as Joseph Bricker. He is 11 years old and was born in Ohio.6 In the census of 2 June 1860 in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio, Joseph appears in the household of S. W. Bricker as Joseph Bricker. He is 21 years old and was born in Ohio. He is shown as stud. med.7

Joseph Henry Bricker married Mrs. Sharp between 1860 and 1880.4 Joseph Henry Bricker survived the death of his father, John N. Bricker, who died on 16 June 1870 in Columbiana County, Ohio. Joseph Henry Bricker and an unknown person were divorced before 1880.8 In the census of 5 June 1880 in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio, he is listed as a brother of Samuel W. Bricker. His name appears as Joseph Bricker. He is 41 years old and was born in Ohio. His father's birth location is given as Pennsylvania and his mother's as Maryland. He is shown as Divorced and working as a Physician.8

Joseph Henry Bricker died on 12 February 1889 in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio, at age 51.

OBITUARY: Suicide of Dr. Joseph H. Bricker. The city was shocked Tuesday evening shortly after 4 o'clock by the report that Dr. Joseph H. Bricker had been found dead in the barn at the home of his brother, Dr. Samuel W. Bricker at No. 20 North Washington Street. The rumor proved to be too true. The body was found by Dr. Homer Bricker about 4 o'clock lying in the barn, where the man had gone two hours previous for the purpose of looking after the horses. He was lying on his right side on a pile of straw with his pocketknife by his side and a gash in the region of the right jugular vein reveled the cause of the man's death.

Joseph H. Bricker was born in New Lisbon, Columbiana County, about fifty-one years ago and came to Tiffin in 1859. He enlisted in the army at the opening of the war and served as a hospital steward at Army Square Hospital, in Washington, D.C., until discharged at the close of hostilities. After returning home he studied medicine with his brother and soon after began the practice. He was married to a Mrs. Sharp, but their married life proving unsatisfactory they separated.

The deceased was a quiet, unobtrusive citizen and all the ill that can be said of him is that he was his own worst enemy. During the forenoon prior to taking his own life he seemed even more cheerful than usual and that he would commit the terrible deed does not seem possible except that his mind had become unbalanced. The shock of his sad ending is a most severe one to the friends and they have the sympathies of all. The funeral services will be held at the house at 2 o'clock Thursday PM conducted by Rev F.S. Lyons.9
