     OBITUARY: DEATH OF FORMER RESIDENT OF CITY
Mrs Sophia Boese Was One of Pioneer Women. Mrs Sophie Boese, widow of Frederick Boese, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Christ Piepenbrink, 1830 Hillsdale avenue, on Monday morning at the age of eighty-four years. Death was due to senility and a complication of diseases, which followed an illness of four weeks.

Mrs Boese was born in Germany and came with her husband to this city sixty years ago. They were among the early pioneers and their first dwelling place was in a log cabin, erected by themselves. She was a devout member of Concordia church. Mr Boese died two years ago. Surviving are four children, Mrs Piepenbrink at whose home Mrs Boese died; Mrs Fred Long of Adams township; Mrs John Rupp and Miss Louise Boese. Twenty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive.²

     Dorothea Meyer was born on 2 October 1830.¹

The other half shall go to my children in equal share as follows, but the (Shmaler?) children shall have their support of my Stepson Henry Muller, until they are confirmed. Henry Muller, my stephson, shall have from said day forward, the right and possesion of the west half of the sw quarter of section 21 in Adams Townswhip in the County of Allen and State of Indiana, one shall be his forever, likewise shall he have all my Inventory and recompense shall he pay to my daughter Charlotte after she becomes of age $150, and for the same recompens, he shall pay my son, William, $150 when he comes of age and the same recompens shall he pay to my son Ernst, the sum of $150 when he becomes of age, and to my daughter, Sophia shall he pay the sum of $150 when she becomes of age and to my daughter, Maria, shall he pay $150 when she becomes of age and after my and my wifes death shall he pay to my said children each one the respective amount again. My son Carl shall have the east half of the sw quarter of said section and shall be his forever, and he shall not have possesion until he is of age, and Charlotte shall have the use of it until that time and give me yearly the third of the crop, in recompens shall the said Carl pay to my daughter Maria $100 after she becomes of age, (farther?), he sall pay to my son, Christian $150 when he becomes of age and after my and my wife's death, shall Carl likewise pay to said Maria and Christian the same amount again. My stepson Henry Muller shall be bound to give me the third of the crop of the farm above mentioned. Henry Muller, as well as Carl shall be boune to give me as well as my wife free dwelling in the house free (wood?) use of the team and likewise if we use of the clearing and inventory. Of the inventory I keep for me as well as my wife, two hogs, one cow, two sheep, and Bedstead, all Bed clothes, stove, and large kettel, cook table, three chairs, one large chest and one box. To the executer in Adams Township in Allen County, in the State of Indiana and in the presense of the undersigned witnesses I undersigned my name with my own hand the 12th of August A.D. 1854. Supplementally I appoint Grierwick Bose and Christian Piepenbrink to be Guantians of my chldren after my death... Signed Christian Piepenbrink, Grierick Bose, Conrad Piepenbrink.⁴ In the census of 29 June 1860 in Adams Township, Allen county, Indiana, Charlotte appears in the household of an unknown person . She is 47 years old and was born in Prussia. Her name appears as Charlotte Piepenbrink.⁵
