He is seven years old and was born in Indiana. His father was of foreign birth.6 In the census of June 1880 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, he is listed as the son of Charles Piepenbrink. His name appears as Ernest Piepenbrink. He is 17 years old and was born in Indiana. His father was born in Prussia and his mother in Maryland.7

     Ernest J. Piepenbrink married Mary Ellng on 15 April 1891 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.1,5 In the census of 8 June 1900 in Adams Township, Allen County, Indiana, Ernest J. Piepenbrink, shown as Ernest J. Peipenbrink, appears as a head of household, which include his wife, Mary Ellng, his sons, Carl F. Piepenbrink and Vernon Peipenbrink, his daughters, Ethel Peipenbrink, Fern Peipenbrink and Wilfred Peipenbrink. Ernest J. was born August 1862 in Indiana and is 37 years old. He is a farmer and has been married for nine years. Charles Ulrich is a boarder at this household. He is 59 years old, born in Switzerland, Feb. 1841. He came to the United States in 1866.1 In the census of 20 April 1910 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, Ernest J. Piepenbrink, shown as Ernest Piepenbrink, appears as a head of household which include his wife, Mary Ellng, his sons, Wilfred Piepenbrink and Vernon Piepenbrink, his daughters, Ethel Piepenbrink, Veronica Piepenbrink, Lucille Piepenbrink, Mary Piepenbrink and Alice Piepenbrink . He is 48 years old and was born in Indiana. His father was born in Germany and his mother in Maryland. He has been married for 19 years and his wife is shown as being the mother of 10 children; eight that are still living. He is working as a gardener and owns his own lots.8 Ernest J. Piepenbrink survived the death of his mother, Mary Haseman, who died on 8 May 1916.9 Ernest J. Piepenbrink survived the death of his father, Carl Heinrich Friedrich Conrad Piepenbrink, who died on 1 May 1917 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.10

     Ernest J. Piepenbrink died on 22 May 1925 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, at age 62.3 He is buried in the Prairie Grove Cemetery located in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.5
