Difficulties between neighbors, misfortune, illness, disputes, etc., were daily laid before him for decision, sympathy or encouragement and none were turned away empty handed.16 Pick a role; He is 62 years old a farmer, and was born in Ohio.      John Scott married Elizabeth Skelly on 3 April 1821 in Harrison County, Ohio.1 Reminder - Pick a Role; John is living near Thomas, Mary, and Wm. Scott. In his household are the following individuals with assumptions in brackets. Under 5 - one male (Thomas) and one female (unknowns), between 5 and 10 - one male (John), between 20 and 30 - one female (wife, Elizabeth), between 30 and 40 - one male (himself), between 50 and 60 - one female (unknown). He is a farmer with real estate value of $3200 and personal estate value of $900.The household living with him is the family of John Scott who died in 1858. However this John's third wife and their three children are not listed. It is an assumption due to his age, birth location, and being unable to find him in a census, that this is the correct John Scott. An unknow John Scott, age 17 and an unknown G. B. Scott, age 8 is also living with them. Perhaps John Scott, age 17, is really the John Scott, age 9. Next to this household is Nathan Scott, age 62, born in Pennsylvania along with Jane 54, Pennsylvania. Also living there and all born in Ohio is R. V., age 24, S. E., age 21, and N. C., age 17.2

OBITUARY: Conrad Dieterich Piepenbrink, who has been a citizen of Fort Wayne since 1840, died at his home, 48 Washington Boulevard, Sunday morning. Mr. Piepenbrink was 78 years of age, and his death was simply a passing away in peaceful sleep. Conrad Piepenbrink was born in Windheim-Minden, Prussia, Sept. 22, 1821. He was left an orphan at the age of 8 years, and at the age of 17 came to America. After two years spent in the east he came to this city in 1840, where he has lived ever since. He was in the grocery business and afterward had a shoe store on Clinton and Columbia streets. Later he was employed by S. C. Lumbard as collector, then by the city as sanitary policeman, and then as assessor. Mr. Piepenbrink was a member of the Lutheran church and of Emanuel Congregation in this city. At the age of 26, Mr. Piepenbrink was married to Augaust E. Brey, who lived but five years after the marriage. To this union four children were born, all of whom are now dead. In 1858, he married a second time, this time to Miss Catherine Maria Dreibelbiss. Eight children were born to this union. Of these, six are still living as follows: Mrs. Frances Covert of Chicago, Mrs. Nettie Rust, of Wheaton, Ill; Messrs. Albert, Henry, and George, of this city, and Mrs. Clara E. Wilde, of Milwaukee. On account of the critical condition of Mrs. C. D. Piepenbrink, the remains of Mr. Piepenbrink cannot be viewed at the house, but may be viewed at the church. The services at the house will be private at 2:30pm Tuesday and at 3 o'clock from Emanuale's Lutheran church.17 He was survived by eight of his children from his second marriage.12 He is buried in the Lindenwood Cemetery located in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.4
