Wilhemia Hasmann1

FatherJohn Haseman2,1 b. b 1825, d. b 1850
MotherSophia Brantmeyer b. 1813, d. Nov 1893
Wilhemia Hasmann was also known as Wina Stellhorn. Wilhemia Hasmann was also known as Mary S. Wilhemia Haseman. Her funeral record, shows her maiden name as Stellhorn and that she was born in West Virginia, like her siblings. The 1850 and 1860 censuses show she was born in Maryland, like her sister, with a different father.3,2,4

I have a letter from Afton Bricker, that states Mrs. Piepenbrink was born a Hasmann, her father being Jacob Hasmann, and her mother marrying Henry Stellhorn after Hasmann's death. The letter goes on to say which children were Hasmann and which were Stellhorn. Some of the information is wrong, because the letter list Lizetta as a Hasman, but she was born in 1857, seven years after Henry and Sophia Stellhorn are shown together in the 1850 Census. Wilhemia and Mary are shown as being born in Maryland in the 1850 and 1860 censuses, therefore I believe their father was Mr. Hasmann and not Mr. Stellhorn.1

Wilhemia Hasmann was born on 17 December 1842 in Maryland. I believe she is the daughter of John/Jacob Hasmann and was born in Maryland as the 1850 and 1860 censuses state. Death Certificate states she was born in West Virginia and that her father was Wm. H. Stellhorn.5,6 She was the daughter of John Haseman and Sophia Brantmeyer.2,1 In the census of 21 September 1850 in 45th District, Preston County, Virginia, Wilhemia appears in the household of Henry Stellhorn as Wm. Stillhorn. She is seven years old and was born in Maryland. She is shown as a male, but believe this is wrong and should be a female.7 In the census of 26 June 1860 in Adams Township, Allen County, Indiana, Wilhemia appears in the household of Henry Stellhorn as Wina Stellhorn. She is 17 years old and was born in Maryland.8

Wilhemia Hasmann married William Habecker on 12 July 1866 in Allen County, Indiana.9,4 In the census of 4 June 1870 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, Wilhemia appears in the household of William Habecker as Willimina Habecker. She is 26 years old and was born in Maryland.9 In the census of 30 August 1870 in Adams Township, Allen County, Indiana, Wilhemia appears in the household of Henry Stellhorn as Maggie Stillhorn. She is 16 years old and was born in E. Virginia.10 Wilhemia Hasmann survived the death of her sister, Mary Haseman, who died on 8 May 1916.11
